I work with a couple of clients where my role is to monitor and improve the performance of the digital agency they are using. This arrangement comes about for a number of reasons but it is always short term with a view to either managing the agency to the performance required or ending the agency relationship.
Fortunately, in most cases the issue is due to poor communication and can be resolved quickly if the agency is willing. In rare cases, the issue is caused by an agency wanting to sell a specific service rather than understanding the needs of the client; or a client with expectations beyond what is achievable.
Regardless of who retains my service I always work for the best interests of the end client.
